Automatic Opening Vents (AOVs) can be used in both natural and mechanical smoke ventilation systems. They can be activated to control the ambient temperature and maintain comfort, or to aid with smoke clearance in the event of a fire, to allow a means of escape and access for firefighters. Added convenience can be achieved through automation so that the system reactions to triggers sent from sensors rather than a human response.
