Be Safe Direct introduce a new range of Dampers

Be Safe Direct are pleased to announce a new range of Dampers. Our new damper range has been engineered for optimum performance and have been tested to EN1366-2 & EN1366-10 Fire Damper test standards.

These Dampers are a highly robust solution and have been cyclic tested for performance. With easy access to the actuator for maintenance and auxiliary contact for position monitoring, this offering is primed to offer highly effective, reliable performance.

Aesthetics have also been considered in the design of these Dampers. They can be fully recessed into the wall and feature a highly engineered, easy fit grill that maximises airflow while offering a sleek appearance while not tarnishing the architect’s vision for lobby areas in commercial and domestic premises.

Lobby Damper

Lobby Damper (LD)

The Lobby Damper has been developed for use in smoke control systems in domestic and commercial multi-storey buildings.

The Damper has been designed with aesthetic in mind and features a sleeved casing to allow it to be fully recessed into the wall. The Damper is fitted with a Belimo on/off actuator that drives the damper blades to open and close as required. A highly engineered grill has been implemented to ensure maximum airflow while preventing any interference with the vertical damper blades it protects.

The Lobby Damper will be closed, and in the event of a fire, the damper on the affected level will be triggered to open by the smoke and fire detection system. This allows the smoke and toxic gasses to be vented from the occupied area. Dampers on other levels will remain closed, preventing the spread of smoke and fire.

Environmental Ceiling Damper (ECD)

Designed for use within ceiling voids this damper allows the movement of air between occupied area and the extraction rise. The damper is set to an open position and designed to close in an emergency to prevent the spread of smoke and fire, responding to a digital signal sent from the smoke and fire detection system.

Tested to EN1366-2:2015 Fire Damper test standards this ECD also boasts 2-hour fire resistance performance to ES120.

The Environmental Ceiling Damper features a unique mid-set point mechanical limitation device, allowing the volume of air to be adjusted to provide environmental airflow to the occupied area as desired.

Lobby Damper Natural

Lobby Damper Natural (LDN Series)

The LD series Lobby Damper has been primarily developed for use in smoke control systems serving multi-storey buildings for both domestic and commercial smoke extraction shafts.

The damper and grille assembly will have the damper typically closed in normal operation and will open to vent smoke and toxic gases that are generated in a fire condition on the level of the fire. The damper responds to a signal received via the smoke and fire detection system.

LDN Dampers on all other levels remain closed, thus preventing the spread of fire from riser on those levels. The low leakage characteristics of these dampers maximise the riser extraction design performance.

How does a Damper work?

How does a Damper work?
1.

A fire starts in a room

2.

As smoke spreads the smoke sensor is triggered, activating the Fire Safety System and Fire Damper

3.

Once activated the blades on the damper move to an open position allowing smoke to be sucked up into the shaft. For mechanical systems, smoke is sucked into the shaft via a fan on the roof, natural systems however utilse natural air flow dynamics to remove the smoke.

4.

The smoke is then passed up through the shaft and out through the roof, leaving the effected area free of smoke, aiding the occupants’ means of escape and providing suitable access for firefighting services

These dampers can bring considerable benefits to any installation, whether its performance or aesthetics you are looking to achieve on your project. Learn more and download the specification sheets over on the Dampers product page; alternatively, get in touch for more information.
